BACKSTORY: Gina Pensiero and Michael Beauchamp started I Am Janet! as a small record label in 2002 that was created for the sole purpose of releasing the music of The Dumb and Ugly Club.
In 2006, it expanded to include the art, music, writing and film of a tight-knit group of creative individuals producing unique work of quality. Jerzy Drozd built the media collective a website, which was beautiful, but extremely difficult to update.
By 2007, the whole operation had fallen into severe disrepair, with members scattered across the country, doing different things and working toward different goals.
AND NOW: In 2009, Gina attempted to revive the site to focus on members who were still active in their creative fields. And that is what you’re checking out now.
